The arrangement

Two crews, one voyage, no time lost.

Your operating crew stays with the ship for everything except the Strait. We relieve them at the anchorage before the transit; they travel by road to the port on the far side and re-board once she is clear. The transfer runs while the vessel is under way, so the passage costs you nothing in schedule.

The same sequence runs in reverse for the opposite direction.

  1. Transit team boards

    The SHOT Group boards at the anchorage on arrival and takes over from your crew.

  2. Operating crew steps off

    Your complement disembarks and travels by road to the port on the far side.

  3. The transit

    The SHOT Group takes her through the Strait — and does nothing else on board.

  4. Handover back

    Your crew re-boards and takes over; our team steps off and returns to Dubai.

This is not a crew put together for the occasion. The SHOT Group has already taken vessels through the Strait several times over, every transit completed without incident and without delay. Handover at the anchorage, watch and lookout, bridge reporting and challenge procedure are practised ground for them, not read up.

The team

  • About 16 seafarers, covering the minimum safe manning.
  • Held in Dubai between transits, on assignments of about three months.
  • Engaged on our own Seafarer Employment Agreements; high-risk allowance and standby time to our account.
  • Boards eastbound or westbound, laden or in ballast.

  • No time lost: the road transfer runs while the vessel transits.
